To File: The Minimum Filing Requirements
For a pleading or filing to be accepted by the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, it must comply with the minimum filing requirements under MCR 8.119(C).

 Some requirements include:

  • The filing must be legible, in the English language, and on 8 ½” by 11” paper
  • A filing fee or fee waiver (unless fee previously waived)
  • A signature of the party submitting the filing (e-signature is acceptable)
  • Case Number (or case type code if a new case)
  • Captioned
  • Judge’s Name
  • Plaintiff and Defendant’s Full Name
  • Name of the Court


Don’t forget a copy for the Judge and the Friend of the Court!
When filing a motion, remember to attach an additional copy for the Judge. Mark the copy as “Judge’s Copy.”

When making any filing involving minor children or spousal support, remember to attach an additional copy for the Friend of the Court.

Faxed Objections
Filings that are captioned as “Objections”, along with any accompanying documents such as proofs of service or notices of hearing, may be filed by fax for a fee.

Fax Filing Fees
$3.00 for the first page
$1.00 for each additional page

The fee for filing must be paid in advance by credit card.

Call GovPayNet at (888) 604-7888 to make payment. Please note that GovPayNet will collect a nonrefundable service fee in addition to the applicable fax filing fee. A case number and the Pay Location Code 1921 are required. GovPay will provide the payer a confirmation number that is also provided to the Court. Notate the confirmation number on a cover letter and fax it along with the Objections (and any accompanying documents).

No other pleading or filing may be submitted by facsimile.
